Stéphane Trudel
Teacher of Spanish as a foreign language
Welcome to my website
Mi historia
I have been working for the Centre de service scolaire des Patriotes since January 2007. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the tourism and hotel industries. I studied at Collège Ahuntsic, Université de Montréal and completed my teacher training at the University of Ottawa. I have also taken part in study stays abroad, including five weeks at the University of Salamanca in Spain in 2001 and six months at the Free University of Berlin in the summer of 2005. I have been teaching Spanish for over ten years. I have been lucky enough to accompany six groups of students to Central America. I organized my first trip to Nicaragua in 2013. I went to Guatemala three times from 2014 to 2016, and in 2018 I went to Costa Rica for the first time, returning in 2019. I love hiking, dancing, reading, traveling, discovering new talents and passions. I also love motorcycling!!!!!
Through my website, I'd like to share not only my own successes, but also and above all those of my students. I'm a passionate, open-minded, daring teacher who loves different cultures and wants to help spread tips and techniques to help and encourage you in your learning of Spanish. I want to inspire you and create a community of curious and alert people. I hope you'll enjoy yourself, but to do so you'll have to take the time to browse around. Have fun discovering!
VIAJES INMERSIÓN LINGUISTICA Y CULTURAL
I've been able to organize six language and cultural trips to Central America. These projects are, to say the least, an incredible opportunity not only to discover Latin American cultures, but also for students to put their knowledge of the Spanish language into practice.
NICARAGUA 2013
First trip to Latin America with a group of 30 students from the School of International Education. We stayed with families in the city of Granada. The students had a wonderful experience, and several excursions were planned, including swimming in lagoons, hiking a volcano and visiting the capital Managua. We also spent a few days on the island of Ometepe.
GUATEMALA 2014-2016
I was lucky enough to organize and take part in three language and cultural immersions in Guatemala. The students stayed with families in the city of Antigua and took Spanish classes at the Mundo language school. We helped prepare an alfombra during Semana Santa, took a cruise on Lake Atitlán and visited three towns including Santiago de Atitlán, San Antonio Palopo and San Pedro la Laguna. We visited a coffee plantation. We also spent an afternoon with students from Bendición de Dios elementary school, and visited the most popular market in the country in the town of Chichicastenango. These three language stays were an incredible experience for me.

COSTA RICA 2018-2019
In March 2018, 40 students from De Mortagne high school enjoyed an extraordinary experience in an absolutely beautiful country. We stayed in the las Quebradas biological reserve and took part in a number of activities, including forest excursions, a visit to a coffee and pineapple plantation, and a visit to a COOPEAGRI sugarcane processing plant. We also spent a day in the splendid Marino Ballena National Park and took part in several other activities. The students took Spanish classes and lived with families. I will never forget this trip.
